Leigh Bell, Director of Communications. Leigh holds a Bachelor of Arts in English with minors in Creative Writing and French from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. She is a published author and a freelance writer, specializing in corporate communications, website material and technical writing. Leigh offers her professional experience to clearly and wholeheartedly express the purpose, beliefs and mission of the ACED. Her personal experience empowers her to do this job with a unique sensitivity. Leigh is fully recovered from a near-fatal, decade-long battle with anorexia. “Did I choose to have anorexia? No,” she says. “Would I change the past? No way. I understand the hurt, the suffering, the at-rock-bottoms, the ones referred to as hopeless. I was one of them. I also understand the recovered. I am one of them. I know this beauty awaits everyone.” Leigh volunteers with abused and neglected children at county-run shelters, but she tries not to take life too seriously. She also plays soccer, practices yoga, consistently refines her wine-tasting skills, searches for the best Thai food in town and drives a dragon-red Vespa scooter.
