1) Full-day treatment sounds serious. Do I need something this intensive?
Eating disorders are serious. In fact, more people die from eating disorders than any other psychological illness. The fact that you are considering treatment tells us you’re somewhat concerned with your weight and/or eating habits. A few key questions can help identify the severity of your situation.
Do you:
- Become anxious or preoccupied with food, weight or body image?
- Prevent weight gain with fasting, over-exercise, vomiting, diuretics, laxatives or diet pills?
- Judge your self-worth on weight and/or body and clothing size?
- Note dramatic weight loss or changes to your eating habits?
- Think you’re fat but have been told you are normal-sized or underweight?
If you notice these qualities in yourself or someone else, there may be a problem. A Center for Eating Disorders (ACED) can help you decide that. Contact our assessment center at 205.933.0041 or email us at
