Her list of professional accolades includes the Academy for Eating Disorders’ Inaugural Translational Research Speaker and the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching from the UAB School of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
As our research consultant, Mary facilitates interaction between our center and research scientists and clinicians at UAB. She will also coordinate with A Center for Eating Disorders to explore research protocols that will help ACED clients, as well as millions of others worldwide who struggle with an eating disorder.
Mary battled and thankfully defeated, an eating disorder more than 15 years ago. It took her to hell and back. And she’s already been to heaven.
“Heaven is any day out of the grips of an eating disorder,” she says. “Full recovery is possible. ACED provides a stairway there, and I am fortunate to serve as one of the steps.”
