Annette brings to ACED more than 40 years of professional experience. She has worked as a registered nurse and board-certified art therapist with individuals and groups in a variety of settings.

Annette has clinical experience in women’s health, psychiatry, community mental health, obstetrics, home health, HIV/AIDS, Hospice, geriatrics, rehabilitation and clinical research. She functions as a nurse and art therapist at ACED, where she also leads the weekly Creativity Group.

She earned her RN degree from Georgia State College in affiliation with Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. Annette holds a Bachelor of Science from the College of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill., a Master of Professional Studies in Art Therapy and Creativity Development from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y., and a Clinical Pastoral Education from the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham.

Annette worked in Bosnia for the Art Reach Foundation, which provides healing and hope for children of war. She volunteered for the Dying in India, during which time she met Mother Teresa. She has also distributed medical and school supplies – as well as 200 soccer balls she collected for children – in Guinea, West Africa. Annette founded the Labyrinth Project of Alabama, an organization that supports the creation of labyrinths worldwide to promote global unity and peace. She has implemented labyrinth-related work in her clinical practice for the past 15 years, and has also published and spoken nationwide on the subject.

Annette weaves her vast, diverse experience into a multidimensional professional practice that addresses the physical, emotional and spiritual facets of her clients. Her greatest gift professionally and personally is that of gratitude, and her greatest achievement, despite so many career accomplishments, is her two grown daughters and grandchildren.

“At ACED, I can bring all of me to work each day,” she says. “My intention is to ‘walk the talk,’ be a role model of healthy living, and align my professional life with my heart, authentic self and spiritual path.”
